Reimagine Mom's Dress...
Karin's Story:
After losing her mother earlier in life, Karin came to me wanting to recreate her mothers wedding gown. Together we transformed a dated 80's dress into a modern and classic convertible look for Karin's special day.
The parts of the original dress that we loved were the bodice and neckline. So after carefully removing the ruffled sleeves and lace decollete, I finished the neckline and waist with appliqué guipure lace. I then added a more modern style skirt in a heavy crepe material, and preserved the same zippers and buttons from the original dress so when Karin was to be zipped into her gown on her wedding day, it was the same as her mothers on hers.
Karin then had the brilliant idea to add these gorgeous cape sleeves to the bodice instead of wearing a veil, and we made them removable to dance the night away later on.
We also saved the skirt from her mothers original dress, and I finished it with a waistband that Karin wore for her rehearsal dinner.
This gown was an absolute treasure to work on and the transformation was breathtaking. Karin was a joy to work with and a beautiful bride!
Create Your Dream...
Erin's Story:
Erin is a talented photographer, business woman, influencer, mama, wife and friend. With a deep passion for connecting with her clients and industry she works in, Erin wanted to support a local Canadian Designer to create her dream wedding gown.
Erin had gone out and tried on a few different styles of gowns to get an idea of what styles and fit she liked on her body. She then came to me with that plus some creative ideas and fabric choices and I took it from there!
What we ended up with was a stunning boho inspired two piece gown for her enchanted forest wedding. Using a mandala patterned lace, I created a comfortable and elegant gathered top and detachable arm pieces. Her heavy cotton crepe skirt accentuated her curves and waterfalled into a perfect simple train. Erin has scoliosis (you'd never know it!) and even after surgeries there are still subtle differences in her back and hips that a custom made skirt accommodated for. I finished off her skirt train by appliquéing on her mandala lace to tie it all together.
Because Erin's gown is a two piece, she was able to swap out her skirt for a fun short party look. And believe me, she did not leave the dance floor that night! Her lace top also looked amazing with a pair of high waisted jeans... how many brides can say that they will actually wear their gown again?
Not only is Erin a great friend, but she was also an incredible bride to work with. It was truly an honour to make this gorgeous human's wedding gown!
